Miss Anika Clark ~ 2010-2011

Tracing American history through literature from the Revolution to contemporary times, sophomores delve into the works of America's prominent authors.  Their study includes perfecting their own writing as well as critically reasoning out historical and social perspectives.

A wide variety of creative short stories, poetry, dramatic presentations, and debate give students the opportunity to share the freedom of thought and expression so celebrated by our country.

A general outline for our year is as follows:
Q1      Beginnings, Transcendentalism, Romanticism
Q2      Realism, Naturalism, Regionalism, Short stories and Poetry
Q3      Modern Poetry/Writing, Prewar Novelists, Harlem Renaissance
Q4      Modernism, Drama, Contemporary Poetry, Black, Hispanic, and Asian Arts
