CAMPUS MINISTRIES

Cultivating Tomorrow's Leaders

Here at PSAA, we strive to follow the example of Jesus, who calls us to “love others as you would want to be loved.”  We seek to live this calling of love both on and off our campus.  Through weekly chapels, prayer gatherings, and spontaneous interactions with each other, we encourage each other to love as Jesus exemplified in the Gospel stories.  We pursue a campus atmosphere where the teachings of Jesus are not mere theory but realized in our actions.

We also seek to love others off our campus.  At least once a month, we collectively do community service projects.  Sometimes these projects involve all of our students at once.  At other times we serve others in our local community in smaller groups.  We deliver food and clothes to the homeless of Pioneer Square.  We visit the elderly in nearby rest homes.  We also work to improve our nearby parks and other public facilities.

Beyond our local environment, we also seek to serve those in other cities of America and around the world. Every two years we go on a mission project somewhere in the United States. On the other years, we go on an international mission project.  For these mission projects, our common denominator is to identify a group of destitute people and provide materials and our labor to improve their dignity and quality of life.

Whether it is within our walls, in the nearby community, or on the other side of the world, we take seriously the call to be like Jesus, who came “not to be served but to serve.”

PSAA supports an active campus ministries program whose goal is to provide each student with the opportunity to be involved in some form of ministry. The officers are composed of elected class pastors.

CAMPUS MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Students Leading Students

CAMPUS MINISTRY LEADERSHIP GROUP

All students are welcome to join the Campus Ministries Leadership Planning Group. Each class pastor and the ASB spiritual vice-president are in this group. The goal of campus ministries leadership group is to provide students with chances to be leaders, plan spiritual activities, student relationship building and bonding activities, and to interact positively with their peers.

WEEK OF PRAYER

Week of prayer is an annual PSAA event where students elect 10 students they wish to hear speak at the daily chapel. With leadership from our chaplain, students are inspired and prepared for this commitment.

PRAISE TEAM /WORSHIP/DRAMA TEAMS

Each student at PSAA is unique and talented in their own way. We believe in fostering and promoting the talents of our students, by giving them chances to share and use their gifts through worship.

MISSION TRIPS

Each year PSAA students have the opportunity to go on a service trip. This is a great way to put our belief in service and sharing God's love into practice.

LOCAL AREA CHURCH WORSHIPS

Since PSAA is a part of a huge community of constituent churches, we make it a priority to visit local churches and share music and ministry with them when possible. This is a great way to extend a thanks to the churches that help support us.

PRAYER GROUPS

At PSAA we believe in the power of prayer. Which is why we make this a priority in our school.

SPIRITUAL RETREATS

Special spiritual rejuvenating day trips are planned for student week of prayer speakers each year, lead by our Chaplin. This is a time for prayer, inspiration, planning and spiritual bonding as students prepare to give their worship talk during student week of prayer.

MISSION TRIPS

Every other year, the juniors and seniors students may choose to spend vacation time on an international mission trip to help our worldwide communities in need. Some of the countries visited in the past have been: Mexico, India, Honduras, Costa Rica, Fiji, Mississippi, Belize, and the Dominican Republic. On these trips, students have aided in helping to build churches, and schools, make mortar to build bricks for latrines and showers, build bed frames for families who can't afford furniture, interact with local village kids to build connections and learn about the culture and so much more. Through this opportunity, students have the experience of serving others, strengthening their beliefs, building stronger connections with each other, and spreading the love of God.

International trips are reserved for juniors and seniors.
